After 15 years of California Department of Fish & Game (well it's now Dept. of Fish & Wildlife, not to be confused with U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service...smart move DFG!), RT has decided to move on. All I have to say to that is, hallelujah!
Since he took on the permitting/regulatory position 2.5 years ago, he burned out pretty quickly, was overworked, understaffed, micromanaged, and very unhappy. It really took a toll on RT's psyche, his happiness, and to an extent our marriage. When someone is unhappy like that and you cannot do anything to help, it definitely causes some tension.
Thankfully, he is onto new adventures as an environmental planner with Caltrans. Everyone in this area has only great things to say about his boss and this particular group of Caltrans folks. Plus, his boss will be a man, so that's already a win-win in my book. Female biologists (that we've had the pleasure of knowing) for some reason, are terrible supervisors and have some hidden personal agenda.
So, we'll see what this new chapter in RT's professional realm will bring. Since he was told that he got this position, his outlook on life has completely changed for the better. Happy husband, harmonious marriage. Ha! :)
