Pfeiffer, Big Sur Camping Trip

We took our first camping trip of 2013. This was P and my first trip to Pfeiffer. It was a beautiful 4-day/3-night adventure with our friends, although a bit windy at times and a little chilly.
We didn't even make it out of the campground! We didn't care. At this stage with P, as long as we're outside enjoying the outdoors, that's all we care about. It's tough because we started out pretty late by the time we  ate breakfast and cleaned up, then we did our little trek, and by then it was late afternoon and our kids were ready for prime meltdown, and eventually their naps.
After naptime, it was close to dusk, so there wasn't a lot of time for any more exploring and then dinner needed to get started. I know my husband was happy because the margies and beer kept on flowin'! P had a great time riding her bike (see video here), jumping on logs, and hanging out with her buddy. I had a great time relaxing, escaping the day-to-day responsibilities, unplugging from electronic devices, and spending time with my family and friends. Did I mention it was breathtakingly beautiful scenery?
On our way home, we stopped at Nepenthe for a bite to eat. This is the infamous restaurant where the film Sandpiper was filmed with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Nepenthe has a fantastic view of the coastline but it was too windy and cold to enjoy the outside seating.
Now, for the unpacking and laundry...

Campsite #107

Throwing rocks in the Big Sur River.

Down by the river side.

More jumping.

The highlight of the kids' trip was my husband chasing them.

Chase me!

Is she having fun or terrified?

Run Bode, run!

Doug was the safety zone.

Roasting s'mores.

Taking a mid-morning trek with the usual prop (a stick) in her hand.

And more jumping!

Running across the bridge was lots of fun, too.

Do I have to take a picture with Daddy?

In a redwood tree with a different stick!

Picture perfect opportunity at Nepenthe.

Couldn't resist a funny pose with these clowns!
