Gone From Morro

Well, we did it! We closed escrow on our house in Morro Bay. We decided six months ago that we wanted to move out of the area to a place where it is more community-oriented and family-friendly. Anytime we wanted to do something on the weekend or the holidays, we couldn't. There were too many tourists and it was just too busy. Forget going to the grocery store. We had been here almost 7 years and haven't really met new friends. It doesn't help that we both work in SLO and pretty much do everything in SLO. But, after talking to a lot of our friends and colleagues, Los Osos was the logical choice. Still by the Bay, liberal town, horse-friendly and best of all, much cheaper to own a home than most other options, or so we thought!!

As soon as we started looking for homes, the prices of home started going up, and they started moving fast, like 2-3 days on the market fast! We think it was probably because the water treatment plant was underway and there was less ambiguity on the cost of the plant.
So, in the fall, we decided to put our house up in early spring. But, by December we were noticing how fast everything was going so we decided to put our house up earlier. In January, we worked like maniacs to repaint every room in the house (except the master bath). We decluttered, sold as much of our stuff as we could, and staged our house as well as we could. Our house went up for sale in February and we were able to sell it in two weeks! On top of that, we decided to buy a house simultaneously. The month of March was indeed March Madness!
Since RT and I have been together, we have been at one place no longer than three years. This home was the first that we've stayed the longest. It's probably because it took a while for our home to regain its value and then some and because we had our daughter, which definitely added some spice to our life!
We're going to miss this home. It's been very good to us. We really like our neighbors, but we're excited for the change and a one-story house. I know Jannu will like not having stairs to climb up and down everyday to do her business. RT says that this new house will be her retirement home.
On to new adventures in the land of bears...
